How To Ease The Pressure

Pressure is an oppressive condition of physical, mental, social, or economic distress.

In todays busy world most are experiencing if not all the so-called pressure, and here are the tips to handle it easily:

Stop doing some of the things you are doing. Preferably the inessential, first thing first. Time management experts says that we spend 80% of our time on the 20% least important things. Nowadays people always keep themselves busy in whatever niche they are, the reason that gives us more pressure and get tired at the end of the day. But this can be avoided or minimize if we should prioritize the things that we need most.

Stop taking on any more, at least before you have thought about it and prayed about it. I’ve learned a good strategy from one of my mentors a few years back that never say “yes” immediately at the time you are ask to do something, just have some break and consult your schedule and priorities, and look at your commitment and deadlines. Pray about it and then decide whether you should, or you should not do it for the time being if you really have a lot of workload. Jesus with all the pressures and demand on Him did not try to do everything and sometimes said “No”.

If deadlines are a problem, try to give yourself more time. I’ve hear much about rushing their construction projects (that sometimes cause structural failure) especially if the contract period is approaching to an end, but I seldom hear about start time or expedite the progress at the earliest during the start of the contract when slight delay is already seen (except for the wise contractors). The same thing in your school projects and assignment, office commitments and schedule, business transactions, when possible try to start earlier then you may not be get rushed.

Try to develop greater efficiency. This may mean an investment in time of learning better and effective ways, or developing time saving systems. If you are an effective and efficient person you can save more time, effort, and cost. Then, you have time for God and your love ones.

Would you rather be effective or efficient? Not much reflection is needed to decide that being effective (producing or capable of producing an intended result or having a striking effect) is more important, though being efficient (being effective without wasting time, effort, or expense) would also be good. But there is little point in being super-efficient if what you do is not effective. It would be great if you are efficiently effective!

Manage a Plan. If you fail to plan you are planning to fail. It is especially important to plan in the important matters, just like quality time with God, with your spouse, your children, friends, building relationships. If you do not plan them ahead you will never find time for them and the urgent will always take up all the time. In construction, most common project failure is cause of poor planning and management.

Of course you can attend on a time management course or trainings, but if you are stressed you probably don’t have time, and if there is, it’s definitely not quality. Giving time to prayer about how you should be spending your time and applying these simple suggestion will make you less stressed about time.

Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.”
